The Tavern is the best known restaurant there, worth a stop. I always...

liked the Peppermill and the Hardware Company, which has reopened as Bonefire Smokehouse BBQ. If you like Greek, Greekos Grill is pretty good, though it has no curb appeal at all. If you haven't ever been to Pal's, go get some cheddar rounds for breakfast one morning.

There also used to be some really nice seasonal eateries in Damascus, VA which is much closer to Shady Valley. I haven't been there in quite some time but you can always take a chance.

From Shady Valley, you can come straight down Rt 421 into Bristol and just try everything on State Street. My personal favorite is Southern Craft BBQ.

The closest Red Lobster is at I-81 Exit 7.
